This is the agreement you accept when you start selling on Gatekept. We wrote it in plain language because you should actually understand what you're agreeing to. We're on the same team here.
This agreement applies to anyone who sells digital products on Gatekept. When you turn on selling and list your first product, you're agreeing to everything on this page.
You need to be at least 18 years old (or the legal age in your country) to sell on Gatekept. If you're setting up a page for a business, you need to have the authority to agree on behalf of that business.
Gatekept is built for digital products. Things like:
Everything you sell must be something you made or have the rights to sell. That part is non-negotiable.
Some things don't belong here. You can't sell:
If we find something that breaks these rules, we'll take it down. Repeated violations can lead to your account being suspended.
You set your own prices. Whatever number you choose is what you keep. We don't take a cut from your price.
Instead, Gatekept charges buyers a 10% service fee on top of your price. If you list something for $20, the buyer pays $22. You get $20. We get $2. Simple.
You can change your prices anytime. You can also offer products for free if you want.
All payments are handled through Stripe Connect. When you start selling, you'll set up a Stripe account (or connect one you already have). That's where your money goes.
Payouts follow Stripe's schedule. Depending on your country and account setup, this is usually a rolling basis with a short hold period. We don't hold your money longer than we need to.
If there's ever a payment issue, Stripe handles the processing side and we handle the platform side. Between the two, we'll get it sorted.
Your stuff stays yours. Full stop. You own everything you upload.
By listing on Gatekept, you give us a license to display, distribute, and promote your products on the platform. We need this to actually show your work to buyers, feature it in discovery, and include it in things like search results and recommendations.
This license only lasts while your product is live on Gatekept. If you take something down, we stop using it. We'll never sell your work ourselves or claim ownership of anything you create.
Digital products are tricky when it comes to refunds. Once someone downloads your file, they have it. We get that.
Our general approach: if a product is broken, doesn't match the description, or wasn't delivered, the buyer can request a refund. We'll look at each case individually.
If a buyer files a dispute, we'll reach out to you first before making a decision. We won't just side with one party without hearing both sides.
We don't want to suspend anyone. But we will if we have to. Here's what could lead to that:
If we suspend your account, we'll tell you why. If it's something fixable, we'll give you a chance to fix it. Any pending payouts at the time of suspension will still be processed according to the payout schedule, unless there's an active fraud investigation.
You're responsible for your own taxes. We know that's not the most exciting sentence, but it's important.
Gatekept doesn't withhold taxes or file anything on your behalf. The money you earn from selling is your income, and it's up to you (or your accountant) to report it properly based on where you live.
If we're legally required to collect tax info from you (like a W-9 in the US), we'll let you know and walk you through it.
We might update this agreement from time to time. When we do, we'll let you know through email or a notification on the platform. We won't just quietly change things and hope nobody notices.
If a change is big enough to affect how you sell or how much you earn, we'll give you a heads-up before it kicks in. Continuing to sell on Gatekept after a change means you accept the new terms.
